Idyllic setting in the Gsieser Valley

Located in the eastern part of the Pustertal Valley, Monguelfo/Welsberg with its 1400 inhabitants is a small but select and friendly village. To the North lies the entrance of the sun-spoilt Casies/Gsieser Valley with its many attractive destinations for excursions.

Set on 1000 m above sea level, Monguelfo/Welsberg is the ideal starting point for your hiking or skiing holidays in the Alps. As far back as in Roman times, its location and surroundings were already appreciated, leading the Romans to build a guard post and a number of residential facilities. During the High Middle Ages, the Welsperg nobility built a castle which remains one of the main attractions in the area and well worth a visit.
